Plate Armor is the most commonly used Armor for Fighters. It is the second-best type of Blacksmithable armor in Oberin. Mages wearing Armor made of Metal will not be able to cast any Spells. Fighters, Rangers, and Rogues that have been designated as 'tanks' on a hunt will often carry at least 2 full sets of Plate Armor. This is especially true for extended trips into Dungeons.

Plate Armor and Black Plate Armor share the highest Armor Rating values of all the types of armor. However, Plate Armor drastically reduces a Rogue's ability to use their Stealth skill; a Rogue that might normally be able to stealth for 12 steps will find that they can only move 0-2 steps in Stealth when wearing a full set of Plate Armor. More desirable for Rogues is Black Plate Armor, which does not affect Stealth as drastically as regular Plate Armor does.

Plate Armor, like all metal armor, will quickly rust and deteriorate if touched by a Rust Beast. Every time a Rust Beast attacks someone wearing metal armor, all pieces of equipped armor will lose 1 'point' of durability. For example, a Metal Shield (+10) will instantly degrade to a Metal Shield (+9). The same holds true for metal Weapons used against Rust Beasts. This damage is not permanent, however. Individual pieces of Plate Armor can be repaired at a Forge by anyone with a sufficient skill level in Blacksmithing.
