A Blood Crusade fort is found near the Mirithcemetery. The camp's commanding officer, a purple-clad brigand wizard, agrees to provide intel after the bulk of his fighting force is destroyed. He claims that he had been impressed into the army by Elphina, and tells of a plot to kidnap citizens. Just then Elphina herself appears and executes the wizard.
A hunting party inside the MR is attacked by sand dracos, ice dracos, frost giants, an ice golem, and later: brigands, and undead beings raised by a practitioner of black magic. This stranger reveals that he was the one whose camp was destroyed not too long ago (see 444, Fighting 23), and he is still searching for the ones responsible. The stranger teleports away upon sensing the arrival of Viktor.
A host of lizards descends from the hills to attack the city of Mirith, led by an elder shaman. The city's defenders slowly push the lizards back to their fort, and finally through the tunnel to the other side, where the elder is slain.
A cleric of the Andris Guard is found monitoring the sandstorm from Morganstown. He tells of a mage in Lerilin that may be able to shed light on the situation. Adventurers seek out the mage, who turns out to be Eliya Rei (see 444, Fighting 118). After helping her rescue a boy lost in the Ant Hill, the adventurers accompany her to the site of the sandstorm. Eliya Rei examines the site and says that the disturbance is being caused by magics similar to those at work in Nystral's Tower. Further, she says that the people inside are not captives, but are the ones responsible for the storm.
A camp of brigands is found outside the volcano. They have managed to capture a wraith and two skeleton archers. The brigands and undead archers are destroyed, but the wraith unleashes its devastating powers to slay all those present and then speeds off into the wilderness.
A necromancer is found practicing his black magic inside Mirith's cemetery. He tells those who come to deter him that he cannot be defeated, thanks to a necklace that grants him the power to cast as many black spells as he wishes. He says, "After I kill you, I will find the black mage that gave me this necklace", just before the rogue Gasby sneaks up and breaks the necklace, causing the necromancer to wither away. Two more necromancers appear to take the necklace and then use their dark craft to teleport away.
A Frost Giant goes to great lengths to win the love of its beloved, which happens to be an ice dragon. Needing the essence of a wizard to complete a special perfume, the giant forces Satyricon and Zaji to duel each other. The perilous contest lasts for hours, but eventually Satyricon emerges victorious. The perfume is concocted, attracting the ice dragon, who goes off to build a nest with the giant.
